Nelly's

They give you only half the portion and charge you full price. I have tried this place at least 3 different times and it was a huge disappointment every time. The women there have a serious attitude and when questioned about portion they play it off like this is everyone that does this. No it’s not. Just because I’m from the Bronx doesn’t mean I don’t know what portion size is or that I’m considerably over charged for food. This is a NO for me. Close this place down and get a better restaurant.

Their food is good. They give a good amount of food for the price. Prices are not bad at all. I would definitely come back again. They don’t offer outside dining because of location so I only do take out. But it’s okay. Still enjoyed their food. The plate on here is $12.00.I ate some lol then remember I have to take a picture.This is pork and steak with yellow rice and beans

UPDATE: FRIDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2023, 11:17AM: So far, the only dish I have eaten is the carne guisao, a rich and delicious beef stew. The service is very good, and the prices are relatively reasonable. I had their flan, for the first time, and give that I AM Cuban, I tend to be very picky about flan. It was so rich and creamy. I look forward to return the next time I visit Poughkeepsie. The place that I was originally going to go to for dinner closed early, but going to Nelly's turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The staff was very professional and the food was muy delicioso. I had yellow rice with pigeon peas (also known as arroz con gandules), beef stew (carne guisao) and yuca, as well as a Jarritos soda, Tamarind flavor and a cafe con leche. The beverages were very good and the food was muy delicioso! My Puerto Rican life partner was a little more than annoyed that he was not eating it woth me, so I promised to treat him to dinner here, the next time he can accompany me to Poughkeepsie. And I certainly look forward to returning, as soon as I can.
